Interactive Musical Experience

Come out to and experience one of New World’s Symphony’s innovative programing events. Integrating modern technology with classical music, the audience will have the ability to alter in real time by using an app on their phone.

As designers it is inspiring and amazing to see the conceptual things one can create with a modern app.

Your Opinion Counts: Turn On Your Phone will consist of seven short works, with only the first and final works being fixed on the program—the Winter and Summer movements of Piazzolla’s Four Seasons of Buenos Aires.  Audience members will have the opportunity to vote on which of the middle five works they want to hear next, arranging them on the program as they choose, in the format of a “choose your own adventure” concert.

Audience members will also be able to change the color of the lights inside the concert hall, varying the ambience as the mood of each work moves them, and can also vote on their favorite work at the end of the evening, determining which Fellow will play an encore. Voting will be enabled via a mobile-based app, which patrons can access via text-messaging or a QR code printed on their program they receive as they enter the hall.  Fellows have recorded one-minute videos promoting their works, which can be viewed in advance of the event at www.nws.edu/YouDecide.
