Hello AIGA Miami members and friends,
Rebecca White here, current President of AIGA Miami. It’s been a true honor to serve the chapter (and the design community at large!) over the past few years. I joined the board in 2014 as Vice President, then took on the President role in Summer 2017. It’s been an exciting journey filled with meaningful relationships, dozens of impactful events, and an incredible amount of learning and growth.
I’m reaching out to you now because my time on the board is drawing to a close. The President role is a 2-year term, and mine will conclude at the end of June 2019. That said, we do not have an Incoming President or Vice President on our board, meaning that there is not an immediate successor to lead the chapter. Accordingly, the Board recommends that we take some special measures to move forward:

We will run an open call for Board nominations in May and June, recruiting an Incoming President and a Vice President to lead the chapter. More details will be announced very soon.

The Board agrees that I should extend my term as President for no more than 6 months to assist in the transition to new leadership. The purpose of the extension is to provide a few months of focused orientation; as the 6 months progress, I will gradually step back for the new President and Vice President to take the lead. New leadership will be fully instated (and I will officially step down) by the end of 2019.

I want to sincerely thank you all for being part of this vibrant and diverse South Florida design community. I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead the chapter and look forward to seeing how it grows over the coming months and years.
